Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha labelled new World Boxing Council super-flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai the "Thai Pacquaio" when they met at the Government House on Tuesday.
The compliment was a reference to Filipino boxing great Manny Pacquaio. The premier blessed Srisaket in the hope he remains champion for a long time.
Srisaket returned to Thailand last week after he captured the imagination of Thais with his historic win over previously-unbeaten Roman Gonzalez at Madison Square Garden in New York. Srisaket also met with Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul on Tuesday.
