A patrol unit of the Forestry Department found a grave inside the Phu Khiew Wildlife Sanctuary in Chaiyaphum’s Huay Yang district two days ago and alerted police and the chief of the sanctuary.
The grave was under a tree with a Vietnamese name inscribed on the tree trunk.
Police and the chief of sanctuary, Wichanon Saenpala, inspected the area for about two hours at 6.20am.
Police believe the man was among Vietnamese poachers who had come for agarwood to the sanctuary and had somehow died.
Officials exhumed the body and sent it for an autopsy.
