Hunting for high-quality designs at low prices? The answer could
be right under your nose
Money is usually a factor when it comes to redecorating your home, but it doesn't have to be an obstacle to stylish living. "Just because you don't have a lot of money doesn't mean you don't have taste," says Ita Shearman, director of homeware at Tesco Lotus. The superstore chain prides itself on the affordability, high quality and winning design of its new homeware items. Created by international designers who travel the world to soak up the latest trends, designs currently only available in Thailand will soon be seen in Malaysia and the UK. Shearman understands that for customers with a limited budget but luxurious taste, it's hard to find value-for-money products locally. In Thailand, high-quality goods usually mean a high price. Decor magazines and celebs on TV are full of dreamy designs, but they're silent when it comes to information on affordable outlets to fulfil them. "People don't know where and how to buy these desirable styles," says Shearman. That's where Tesco Lotus comes in, she adds. Helpfully, the products aren't just piled up on shelves together, but arranged as living room and bedroom sets that furnish customers with ideas on how to decorate at home. The model rooms come in three styles: opulent classic, minimalist black-and-white contemporary, and colourful floral. The model rooms are a guide, says Shearman, so that customers "won't make mistakes when it comes to matching colours and designs". Thinking of refurbishing your home but not sure where to start? Take a peek at the ideas already laid out at Tesco Lotus.
